A clear ownership model reduces duplicate entry, conflicting values and the late-stage surprises that slow revenue teams down.
Start with the customer and the commercial offer
CRM should provide the account, opportunity, contacts and relationship context. CPQ should turn that context into a valid, configurable commercial offer with products, quantities, pricing and terms.
Keep pricing and configuration governed
Complex bundles, tiers, dependencies, discounts and contract-specific pricing belong in the system that can validate the offer before it is presented to a buyer.
Connect approvals to the quote
Approval decisions should be attached to the exact quote version and exception that required review. This keeps the reason, reviewer and final terms together.
Synchronize the approved result
Once the commercial decision is complete, synchronize the approved fields downstream. Avoid making every system a second place where sellers rebuild the deal.
